Well after several weeks of planning and fantastic cooperation and support from our church's Board of Missions and Fellowship Board, we held our first official church fund-rasier - Trivia Night. Thank you everyone who made this event possible and/or attended the exciting competition on Saturday June 11, 2011.
If you missed it, here's a recap.
Following our home congregation's annual summer church picnic, friends and family gathered to test their knowledge of fun, interesting, and random facts. The saying two heads are better than one is often used to mean the more brain power employed to find an answer, the more likely it will be identified and implemented quickly and sufficiently. However you may well know that this cannot be entirely true in trivia contests, for it is not really the combined thoughts of a solution searching team, but rather the fortunate circumstance that one of the brains yoked together unlocks the necessary information. Thus teams this past Saturday competed in groups of 4 without the guarantee of a stronger pool of intelligence, but at least with improved odds that one teammate might possess the correct answer tucked away amidst the folds of his or her brain.
The competition had four rounds, each with ten questions. Each round had a specific theme - Kenya facts, Potpourri, The Bible, or American Geography. All individuals from the highest scoring team each round selected a prize, their choice of a Kenyan fresh fruit basket, Kenyan coffee, authentic Kenyan tea, or a bottle of African wine. The grand prize - free admission to the Indianapolis Zoo, and a tickets to the Indianapolis Indians went to the team with the highest cumulative score after all 4 rounds.
Check out the PowerPoint of the questions and see how you would have done.

Praise be to God for the gift of Christian fellowship, and by His grace we were able to have successful beginning to our fund-raising. Thank you for your support and please continue to pray for us as we go forth in our preparations.
