Not in Kansas Anymore

Recently, during a heavy storm, natural forces damaged the Kisumu Rescue Center. No is was not a tornado, but destructive just the same. Part of the structure’s gables collapsed, sending brinks cascading into the classroom. Desks and benches were shattered, and the iron sheet roofing was blown off the top, and twisted into a pile of metal a few hundred meters away.

This Rescue Center, located in Mamba Leo -- a part of town just outside of Kisumu, had been constructed over the last year. In fact, this was the first location planned for Tim to use his skills in education while serving in Kenya. Because of difficulty acquiring a fresh water supply, students have not been staying there, and Tim served these first months at the Lutheran Non-Formal school. But with the new term beginning the 9th of January, and a working water supply,  the school was scheduled for opening and operation.

Megan accompanied Pastor Chuchu to the rescue center site to help assess the damage and write a brief report to inform church officials about the recent event. We are still waiting to find out if and how repairs can be made possible and if this development will change anything for Tim in January.
