Last weekend, we finally checked out the area's top tourist stop, Kisumu Impala Sanctuary, and were pleasantly surprised with what we found. As you probably know, we are pretty frugal, so we figured waiting to go until after getting our Kenyan residence passes (making the entry fee much less) wouldn't be a big deal. We were not expecting much more than a typical zoo, but found walking trails, picnic sites, beautiful views of Lake Victoria, and a very "interactive" zoo in which we were able to feed some animals and even pet the sanctuary's resident cheetahs named Alice and Festus (don't worry, apparently they were rescued as orphans soon after birth and grew up in captivity so they didn't bite our hands off!). We are excited to return and enjoy this little piece of nature again before we leave!
